I’m just about to start converting a VW T4 into a camper van that I can still use to carry timber and stuff around in as well as sleep in - so no fixings too permanent.

I have so many questions I do not know where to start.

Perhaps I’ll start with the electrics:
I intend to fit a leisure battery and perhaps a charger (if I can afford it) and naturally wire it for mains connection.
Do I need to connect the leisure battery to the alternator? If so what size cables do I need to run from the battery to the alternator and how will I get the cable from the alternator to the battery?

Hi Mate, i made a plate to carry both of my batteries, then purchased a split charge relay kit from Just Kampers, cost of £20, all instructions come with it, easy wiring.
