Ooops! That title looks a little pornographic!
Still... Got your attention, now then.
I'm just about to start looking for a split screen camper.
It'll be my first foray into this, preferably I'll get it right first time, if I seek advice and don't cut corners...
Ideally, I want a splitty, cutomised, not standard, and maybe an aftermarket engine!
Two choices really:
1. Buy a finished camper, live happily ever after...
2. Buy a project and.....
Biggest Q is how do I know I'm not buying a rogue?
And, most importantly, how do I make it safe enough (within reason, due to age of vehicle) for my 4 year old to travel in?

I just bought from California and will get it shipped. First off, the weather is totally in your favour and hence no or very little rust it bought from there or Nevada, New Mexico etc

Secondly, it's all about what time you have versus urgency to use. If you have no experience, no worry for money (within reason) and no time then the answer is obvious and then all you need to worry about is from where you buy it i.e. RHD from UK or RHD import from SA, AUS or LHD from USA etc.

If your worried about buying from overseas then I would get an independent inspection of the vehicle. On all my old (expensive) cars i.e. Fez, Porsche etc I did this. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and since I have 3 kids, I splashed out and put my mind at rest.
