Ok, I give up.
How do you get at the areial on
a 84 Vanagon? I tried going from below and that just doesn't seem
right. This is my first vanagon, so I'm
learning slowly. Do you go through the front or something?
Thanks Kamperman

| n the later vanagons you have to take the grill and the headlight assembly out to get to it. i'd imagine its the same on an 85. good luck! |

| if you have the fully retractable antenna, you can remove it by collapsing it, removing the mounting nut and pushing it into the body. then remove the instrument cluster, unhook the antenna wire and bring the antenna out through the dash, or push it down through the gromet and fish it out the bottom. you can install the new one by laying under the van, (jacking a little helps) extending the mast fully and feeding it up from the bottom until the mast sticks up through the hole and then pull it up from the top. If there is still a gromet in the hole that the bottom of the antenna sits in, you have to remove it. |
