A family had to cancel their holiday after the camper van they were travelling in burst into flames.
Police were forced to close the junction 4 slip road of the M61 for 30 minutes at 10.15am on Sunday while firefighters doused the flames.
The family of four from South Manchester were travelling in the Volkswagen camper van, northbound, for a holiday in the Lake District when an electrical fault caused the engine to burst into flames.
Firefighters spent 40 minutes dealing with the blaze, but the van and all of its contents have been destroyed.
