Team Midlife Crisis (AKA Class Campers), shall be undertaking an epic adventure in the aid of charity over xmas 2009/10.  Me and Steph are going to do the Plymouth - Dakar challenge in a left-hand drive Peugeot 205.


We have to travel over 4000 miles across Europe to Afirca and over the Sahara Desert to the Gambia.  The car is sold of at the end and the proceeds go to the Rotary Club Gambia.


We are also raising money for TY Hafan childrens hospice in Wales.  Please visit there website if ytou require any further information about this charity.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and the organisers of the world’s largest gathering of Transporter campervans, Vanfest, are inviting campervan owners to enter their vehicles into a special ‘Five Generations of Camper’ competition. The winning vehicles will be exhibited at a Volkswagen-sponsored display at the show which takes place at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern from 12-14 September. Around 8,000 Volkswagen campers are expected to attend Vanfest 2008, which is presented annually on behalf of the Volkswagen Type 2 Owners Club.

I have now added colour blocks next to the colour codes so one can get a better idea of the colours.  There are still some missing but i will be working over the next couple of days to complete these.

As you may or may not have noticed I have been making a lot of design changes to Class Campers as well as adding a lot more information.  I have moved over all the articles, techical and various other sections to a new system.  I have manged to retain the amount of views on each article/record but couldnot retain the date that the articles etc where published.  So all the articles will have very new dates on them for now.

Volkswagen is investigating whether it can design and build a more simple replacement for the historic Camper van

It may seem like a strange alliance, but Volkswagen and British rock group The Who have joined forces. And the result could see the return of the firm’s much loved camper van.

Well, not really, Volkswagen the company actually has nothing to do with these cute little flash drives modeled after their more famous vehicles. There are 4 models, 2 beetles, and 2 campers.

Appropriately, I was driving through Woodstock - that's Woodstock in Oxfordshire, rather than New York State - when it happened. A young lad in his Vauxhall made a rude gesture with his right hand as I passed. Mentally tut-tutting at his appalling manners, I was several miles down the road before I realised that, far from being offensive, he was actually using one of those incomprehensible "VW" gestures with which fellow vee-dub enthusiasts signal their approval. Oh, the shame!

A family had to cancel their holiday after the camper van they were travelling in burst into flames.

Police were forced to close the junction 4 slip road of the M61 for 30 minutes at 10.15am on Sunday while firefighters doused the flames.

The family of four from South Manchester were travelling in the Volkswagen camper van, northbound, for a holiday in the Lake District when an electrical fault caused the engine to burst into flames.

Firefighters spent 40 minutes dealing with the blaze, but the van and all of its contents have been destroyed.

Few people know that the classic Volkswagen Camper Van is still available to buy today, brand new, built in Brazil.  The current camper van has had many upgrades along the years and no longer uses it air-cooled engine.  The VW Camper is still more popular than ever with customisers.

It is now 60 years since Volkswagen produced the first Camper Van, and the company is hosting a series of celebrations at the Hanover Exhibition Centre in Germany this October. Though the VW Camper has a massive cult following today, it was originally based on a vehicle used to transport heavy panels around the Wolfsburg factory, which inspired the split-screen T1 van in 1947.
