Thieves stole windscreen from our Volkswagen camper van |
THE owners of an old Volkswagen camper van are urging others to be vigilant after a thief stole the windscreen. Lee Elmore and Rebecca Holden, of Savile Park, Halifax, have enjoyed holidays all over the UK in their imported Californian van but their latest jaunt had to be put on hold when the window was stolen over-night.

Appropriately, I was driving through Woodstock - that's Woodstock in Oxfordshire, rather than New York State - when it happened. A young lad in his Vauxhall made a rude gesture with his right hand as I passed. Mentally tut-tutting at his appalling manners, I was several miles down the road before I realised that, far from being offensive, he was actually using one of those incomprehensible "VW" gestures with which fellow vee-dub enthusiasts signal their approval. Oh, the shame! |

Motorway closed because of van fire |
A family had to cancel their holiday after the camper van they were travelling in burst into flames.
Police were forced to close the junction 4 slip road of the M61 for 30 minutes at 10.15am on Sunday while firefighters doused the flames.
The family of four from South Manchester were travelling in the Volkswagen camper van, northbound, for a holiday in the Lake District when an electrical fault caused the engine to burst into flames.
Firefighters spent 40 minutes dealing with the blaze, but the van and all of its contents have been destroyed. |
